    This article presents a real-world case study of 18 forklifts operating in a coastal industrial park, analyzing the causes, failure mechanisms, and solutions for forklift tire bead corrosion. It begins by defining forklift tire bead corrosion and lists five primary causes: salt and moisture ingress, rim flange corrosion, fretting wear, incorrect inflation pressure, and poor bead chafer design. The case study details repeated bead failures under monsoon rain and road salt exposure. Failed attempts included switching to galvanized rims and increasing inflation pressure – the latter made failures worse. The hidden clue was a polished fretting ring on the rim seat. The left front tire ran noticeably hotter due to sun exposure, poor drainage, and driver turning habits, leading to more frequent failures.
